Wonder Woman/Sandman Sequart Piece

I’m aware the blog has been more than a little quiet lately. I could make all kinds of excuses but I won’t bother. While Gutter-Space has been silent, I published an essay elsewhere. It’s about some common strands between George Perez’s Wonder Woman and Sandman, mainly how they’re both influenced by the classics and have strange flirtations with gender politics. You can check out the piece here.

While I’m talking about it, I’d like to praise Sequart. It’s a great site for interesting comics and pop culture criticism, written in mostly conversational or approachable voices. Hopefully I’ll put out more criticism with them again in the future. My piece was the final essay published as part of their Wonder Woman week, which also included great pieces on the cultural symbolism of Wonder Woman and her strange place in Batman vs. Superman, among other topics.

I’ll be back soon with a post on something recent.
